Is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi an honest person?  Is she honorable in her political dealings?  Is the Pope Presbyterian?

In a word: no.  To my way of thinking, Pelosi is neither honest nor honorable.  A harsh assessment?  Sure.  But I am not alone in my disregard for Pelosi.  A huge percentage of survey respondents hold a similarly dismal view of San Fran Nan.  Pelosi’s approval rating hovers only slighty above those of child molesters, rapists, and members of the mainstream media.

Simply put, Madam Speaker is — in the view of millions of U.S. citizens — an abomination, a blight on the political process.

Pelosi recently spoke of her intention to ram through health-care legislation that is overwhelmingly despised by the electorate.  She spoke of a metaphorical gate, one that she intends to smash through, pole-vault, or parachute over — whatever it takes.  Uh, Ms. Pelosi:  That gate that you deem to be a nuisance, the one that you see as an obstacle to be overcome, just happens to be the will of the American people.

You do know who those people are, don’t you Nance?  They’re the folks for whom you work.  The ones who pay your generous salary.  The ones who provide you with those lavish perks — such as a jumbo jet (for you and 200 of your closest friends and family members to enjoy).  The ones who fund your “fact-finding” junkets to exotic places around the globe.  Those people.  And they don’t take kindly to way you’ve been thumbing your legislative nose at them.  Neither do they appreciate your conflicting public statements.

Pelosi’s pronouncements (regarding the state of the proposed governmental health-care takeover) have been all over the map.  One moment, she indicates that the plan is on life support (saying, “we don’t have the votes.”)  A day or two later, she crows that it’s an all-but-done deal.  Given the many positions she has taken, the only thing that’s certain is that she’s not playing straight with us.

It would be difficult to pry Pelosi out of her House seat.  She represents a very liberal district, one to which — I imagine — she delivers much “pork.”  So her lefty constituents are likely to keep returning her to Washington for a long time to come.

But, when Pelosi (aided and abetted by other over-reaching politicians) so alienate voters nationally that her party finally loses control of the House of Representatives, Republicans won’t be the only ones to celebrate her demotion.

When the glorious day arrives when Pelosi yields the Speaker’s gavel, plenty of independents — and a good many Democrats too — will cheer her removal from power.
